We are a volunteer-driven group with more than 80 members coming from universities, hospitals, nonprofits, industries, state government, and makers communities. Our mission is to produce personal protective equipment (PPEs) for healthcare workers and other essential workers in the region using fabrication facilities such as 3D printers, Laser cutters, CAD software, and other resources.
When the outbreak began, the South Kingstown EMS had only one face shield for their entire department. This put their entire staff at an increased risk for exposure despite the critical nature of their work. Due to Rapid Solvers efforts, a team at URI was able to provide South Kingstown EMS with over 55 face shields in less than a week's time.
This is what the Rapid Solvers are all about: Rapid iteration and solution development to create real-world impact right now. Now more than ever is a time for us all to stand together as one and protect ourselves against this threat. Will you stand with us?
